Bio:
Born in Ibarra, a small city in northern Ecuador, located in the Andean Region in South America; Darwin’s passion for the arts began in his early teenage years when he discovered the power of expression in painting and drawing. Inspired by the new generation of young artists and the emergence of local workshops he merged into the spirit of art.
He studied art in the prestigious College of Plastic Arts Daniel Reyes in San Antonio, Ecuador, near his hometown.
In the early 90’s he traveled with his art to Netherlands where he participated in a couple local workshops in Amsterdam. Later on, he visited Frankfurt, Germany and Budapest, Hungary with the same purpose. He returned to Ecuador and exhibited his work. He now resides in New York for the past 15 years, where he has been part of various exhibitions.
His inquisitive mind made him eager to know and understand his thousand-year old pre-Columbian culture and traditions. This began a long and profound process, with a desire to reflect his culture in an
iconographiclevel. For the past years, he has been investigating the technical aspects using color and matter as tools to transmit his philosophical and spiritual message to the world.
As an artist, Darwin Erazo understands the importance and strength of communicating through his art, delivering to all the right concept and sensibility.
